David and Kylie Colville, with their children George, Oscar and Bronte, are currently in their sixth consecutive year of life in Nepal. They are approaching their final winter there, with plans to return to Australia permanently mid-way through 2020. Here’s what they’ve been up to recently.
David is continuing to teach at the Kathmandu International Study Centre [KISC], the international Christian school. He is now serving as the Head of Humanities Faculty. KISC provides internationally-accredited primary and secondary education to over two hundred students, enabling their families to serve in Nepal.
In addition to classroom teaching, David plays a wider role in growing and supporting students. This month, he will take his homeroom students on a rafting trip for KISC’s Activity Week. “It will be quite sad,” shares David, “as this will be the sixth and final annual trip I’ve taken them on in our journey here.” After the trip, his senior students will be applying for universities all over the world.
While in Nepal Kylie has supported a number of local organisations, including New Life House, which repatriates and restores Nepali survivors of sex trafficking. Hoping to work on similar projects in the future, she has begun working towards her Masters in Social Work. “I am enjoying the challenge of getting back into academic thinking and writing,” she shares.
The children are currently all involved in KISC’s musical production of “Beauty and the Beast,” soon to be premiered!
