Mr Karna Das, a well-known singer and an icon of Adhunik Nepali music, has been appointed as the Brand Representative of Green Pastures Hospital [GPH].
Whilst it is a great honour and privilege for GPH to have such a famous person representing it, it certainly does beg the question, “Why would an NGO run hospital even need a Brand Representative?”
Well, GPH is not just any hospital. When GPH was first established almost six decades ago, there were only a handful of other hospitals in existence with none of them doing the same thing. No other hospitals were treating patients with leprosy. Or tuberculosis. Or creating artificial limbs.
Nowadays, there are many hospitals and many of them can now offer similar services such as treatment for spinal cord injury and physiotherapy. However, GPH continues to lead the way to provide services that were once unavailable to the everyday person in Nepal such as palliative care. It also continues to provide unique services such as pastoral care. And most importantly, it continues to be affordable whilst maintaining a high standard of care.
Unfortunately, all these new and old services offered by GPH are only known by a small proportion of the population. Many equate GPH as a hospital that only treats leprosy patients. They do not know about the newly built Ear Centre, the orthopaedic and spine department, the palliative care unit to name a few.
That is why GPH needs a person like Mr Karna Das.
Mr Das was born and raised in Pokhara. He lives nearby. He goes to a local church. And yet he is instantly recognisable to most Nepali’s.
And he has always had ties with INF and GPH. His mother worked at GPH. He grew up near its grounds. He knows its vision and mission. He really is a perfect fit.
GPH is excited to be partnering with Mr Das. In the coming months, the promotions team will be working with Mr Das to come up with plans to reach communities across Nepal.
