जीवनको पहिलो छ महिनाको अवधिमा विशेष स्तनपान बच्चाको वृद्धि, विकास र बाँच्नको लागि, र आमाको कल्याणको लागि महत्त्वपूर्ण छ। अनुसन्धानले फेला पारेको छ कि पर्याप्त अनुकुल संयन्त्र बिना काममा फर्किदा यी स्पष्ट फाइदाहरूको बाबजुद स्तनपान अभ्यासमा बाधा पुग्न सक्छ। स्तनपान गराउने आमाहरूका लागि कार्यस्थलमा स्तनपान कक्ष, लचिलो-समय, विश्राम र स्तनपान गराउने वातावरण र संस्कृतिको व्यवस्था कम लागतका हस्तक्षेपहरू हुन् जसले स्तनपान, काममा उत्पादकता र कर्मचारीको अवधारणमा सुधार गर्न सक्छ।
आई एन एफ नेपाल हरियो खर्क अस्पतालमा कुल कर्मचारी अनुपातको ६०% महिला कर्मचारी सदस्यहरू छन् । ड्युटीका क्रममा स्तनपान गराउनु पर्ने आफ्ना शिशुलाई संगै ल्याउन चाहने आमाहरूको लागि विशेष कक्ष निर्माण गर्न आवश्यकता महशुस गर्दै अस्पतालले आजबाट ‘आमा तथा बच्चा हेरचाह कक्ष’ संचालनमा ल्याएको छ ।
आई एन एफ कर्मचारीहरुका बीच एक कार्यक्रम गर्दै संस्थाका कार्यकारी निर्देशक कृष्ण अधिकारी, पार्टनरसिप अफिसर निरुपमा पोखरेल र बिजनेस अफिसर मिना दुराले सयुक्त रुपमा यस हेरचाह कक्षको उद्दघाटन गर्नु भयो ।
यस कक्षमा कर्मचारीले ड्युटीका क्रमममा आफ्ना बच्चालाई रेखदेख कर्ताको रोहबरमा यहाँ छोड्न सक्ने छन् र बेला बेलामा आई आफ्ना बच्चालाई स्तनपान गराउन सक्ने छन् । यहाँ बच्चाहरुका लागि खेल्ने कक्ष, स्तनपान कक्ष, सुत्ने कक्ष, भान्सा र शौचालयको व्यवस्था गरिएको छ ।
Exclusive Breast Feeding (EBF) during the first six months of life is crucial for optimising child growth, development and survival, and the mother’s wellbeing. Research has found that returning to work without adequate support mechanisms can hamper optimal breastfeeding practices despite these clear benefits. The provision of workplace breastfeeding rooms, flexi-time, and breaks for breastfeeding mothers and an enabling breastfeeding environment and culture are low-cost interventions that can improve breastfeeding, job productivity, and employee retention.
At Green Pastures Hospital (GPH), female staff members constitute 60% of the total staff. The hospital has felt a need to create a space for those working moms who wish to bring their nursing babies to work for breastfeeding. Therefore, now GPH has designated an onsite Mother and Child Care space facility to bring ‘baby-to-work’ for those working mothers who wish to bring their nursing babies to work for breastfeeding.
INF Nepal Executive Director Krishna Adhikari, Partnership Officer Ms Nirupama Pokharel and Business Officer Ms Mina Dura jointly (about to be new mothers) inaugurated the care space.
The facility has a play area, nursing or breastfeeding room, a sleeping area with cots, a kitchen, and washroom (toilet) facilities.
